Be-Hot Review

The GNC Wellbeing Be-Hot Exercising Enhancing Turbopak contains three supplement formulations that are also marketed separately at GNC stores. The supplements included are be-Energized, be-Enhanced and be-Defined. GNC Wellbeing Be-Hot Exercise Enhancing Turbopak has been designed to enhance workouts and exercise routines, increase energy levels and burn more calories by accelerating metabolism. Be-Hot does contain stimulants and can cause side effects. The ingredient profile suggests that be-Hot will not be very effective as a stand alone diet pill.

How does be-Hot work?

The manufacturer claims that the three formulations in be-Hot work to define and strengthen muscles, burn calories and support a healthy metabolism. The first formulation, be-Energized, includes 200 mg of caffeine and 95 mg of green tea. Both of these ingredients are proven metabolism boosters. The second formulation, be-Defined, does not appear to contain anything that would promote weight loss. The final of the three formulations, be-Enhanced, contains a range of linoleic acids which have been shown to promote modest weight reduction.

Be-Hot side effects

Due to the high caffeine content in be-Hot, side effects such as insomnia, diarrhea, irregular heartbeat, dizziness, nausea, headaches, loss of appetite, raised blood pressure and increased heart rate may be experienced – particularly by individuals sensitive to stimulants.

Be-Hot pros

  • Be Hot is manufactured and marketed by a highly reputable company, GNC
  • Be Hot can be purchased in stores or online

Be-Hot cons

  • Be-Hot does not contain ingredients that will promote appreciable weight loss without an effective diet and exercise regimen
  • Be-Hot does no have any appetite suppressants
  • Be-Hot has a high caffeine content which can cause side effects
  • There is no be-Hot guarantee

Be-Hot Ingredients

Be-Hot consists of three formulations, namely:

be-Energized: Caffeine Anhydrous, MegaNatural®-BP Grape Seed Extract, Green Tea Leaves Extract, Capsimax™ Capsicum Fruit Extract, Bioperine, Setria L-Glutathione and alpha-Lipoic Acid.

be-Defined: Chloride, Potassium, NAS and Green Tea Lea Extract (Decaffeinated).

be-Enhanced: Conjugated Linoleic Acid, EPA, DHA, MCT’s (Medium Chain Triglycerides), LA (Linoleic Acid), Oleic Acid, GLA (gamma Linoleic Acid), ALA (alpha-Linoleic Acid) and Vitamin E.

Looking at the ingredients in greater detail:

Caffeine anhydrous: A recognized fat burner with clinically proven benefits for weight loss (e.g. Am J Clin Nutr. 1989;49(1):44-50; Am J Clin Nutr. 1980;33(5):989-97), although there are indications that it offers greater benefits to leaner individuals (Am J Physiol. 1995;269(4 Pt 1):E671-678).

Green tea: This tea contains caffeine that speeds up the body’s metabolic rate. The combination of green tea (standardized for caffeine and ECGC) and caffeine has been demonstrated to promote weight loss (Obes Res. 2005; 13: 1195-204).

Green tea decaffeinated: Rich in antioxidants like EGCG. However, the decaffeinate form of green tea will not promote fat burning.

Potassium chloride: An electrolyte that can be depleted during exercise.

Niacin: This B vitamin plays a major role in releasing energy from carbohydrates, proteins and fats. This is the why niacin is included in some weight loss supplement formulas.

Alpha lipoic acid: A natural antioxidant that is believed to benefit the skin.

ALA: A natural antioxidant.

Grape seed extract: This extract contains a number of flavonoids and other compounds with significant antioxidant properties. It has been found to be a strong neutralizer of free radicals.

Capsimax capsicum fruit: Capsicum is also known as cayenne pepper. It has been used in traditional medicine as a gargle for throat irritation or infection, for stomach problems, and to protect against hardening of the arteries and heart disease. Capsicum contains Capsaicinoids, which are the family of compounds that cause the intense heat experienced when consuming chili peppers. Capsanicinoids help to promote thermogenesis, carbohydrate oxidation and stimulate fat oxidation. Capsanicinoids also have strong antioxidant properties. Numerous clinical trials support the effectiveness of Capsicum in promoting weight loss. However, it appears that very high doses are required for it to be effective.

Bioperine: This ingredient is a standardized extract from the fruit of Piper nigrum L (black pepper) or Piper longum L (long pepper). Bioperine contains 95 percent piperine. Bioperine has been shown in clinical research to increase the absorption of ingredients in nutritional supplement formulations. It is possible that the use of Bioperine may increase the side effects of certain supplements due to increased absorption.

Setria l-glutathione: An amino acid used in muscle nutrition supplements.

Tonalin CLA: This compound is extracted from safflower oil. Many years of research indicate that CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) suppresses the enzyme that promotes the storage of body fat. Tonalin CLA is the highest quality form of CLA available. A review of a number of clinical studies (Am J Clin Nutrit. 2007; 85:1203-1211) concluded that a dose of 3200 mg per day of CLA produced a modest loss in body fat. This dose is orders of magnitude higher than the dose of CLA available in Liporexall.

EPA, DHA, MCT, LA, Oleic Acid and GLA: Omega fatty acids that have been shown to promote cardiovascular health, but not weight loss.

Be-Hot satisfaction guarantee

There does not appear to be a satisfaction guarantee offered by GNC for the Wellbeing Be-Hot Exercise Enhancing Turbopak. Perhaps GNC does not believe that be-Hot is as effective as other similar products on the market.

Be-Hot conclusion

The be-Hot formulations are weak on weight loss promoting ingredients and there is no appetite suppressant included.
