The manufacturer of CentriLean claims that it is a clinically proven weight loss diet pill that burns belly fat without having to change diet or lifestyle. Although the CentriLean website conveys the impression that the pill has undergone clinical evaluation, there have in fact been no published clinical studies carried out on CentriLean. There have been clinical trials performed on the product’s primary ingredient, Amorphophallus konjac, but not on the product itself.
How does CentriLean work?
The manufacturer of CentriLean states that in a clinical study 79.5% of subjects lost pure body fat, and not water weight, while using the product. The CentriLean website states that the pills have been tested and proven to be safe. CentriLean contains Konjac root (Amorphophallus konjac), or glucomannan as it is commonly known. Glucomannan is a simple water soluble dietry fiber that can be purchased cheaply as a health supplement. Thermaxium, the second ingredient in CentriLean, is a supplement that contains green tea extract. Green tea extract has been demonstrated to promote modest weight loss. Although glucomannan has been evaluated clinically, this does not mean the results can be directly extrapolated to CentriLean itself. The potency or dosage of CentriLean has not been disclosed and it cannot therefore be determined whether or not the amount of glucomannan present in CentriLean corresponds to the amount used in positive clinical studies.
A considerable number of scientific papers have been published reporting the benefits of glucomannan, not only for weight loss, but in lowering LDL cholesterol, and blood lipid and sugar levels. Glucomannen is an un-absorbable polysaccharide. One of the ways it works is to help suppress appetite and increase the feeling of stomach “fullness”. The manufacturer claims that expected weight loss with CentriLean should be of the order of 3.4 pounds of fat over an 8-week period. This is inline with clinical studies carried out on glucomannan.

CentriLean side effects
Glucomannan in CentriLean may bind with and inhibit the absorption of some nutrients. It is advisable to use a high quality multi-vitamin when taking glucomannan or glucomannan-based products, and to consume it prior to, or sometime after, consuming this supplement.
Glucomannan pills can occasionally become stuck in the esophagus and cause a blockage. A clinical study (Clin Toxicol (Phila). 2007; 45: 80-2) showed that glucomannan-based supplements can pose a hazard for individuals with upper gastrointestinal diseases. To avoid this very slight risk, break open capsules containing glucomannan and sprinkle it over food before consuming.
