CytoLean V2

CytoLean V2, manufactured by Gaspari, has replaced the original Cytolean fat burner. As the amount of each ingredient in CytoLean V2 is not disclosed, it is difficult to assess if they are present in the required dosages to promote significant weight loss. On the plus side there are many positive reviews and CytoLean V2 is manufactured with good quality control procedures.

How does CytoLean V2 work?

In CytoLean V2, the new version of CytoLean, the natural MAOIs have been replaced with tangerine peel extract, guarana extract, green tea extract, caffeine, Lactium®, 7b-OH and goji berry. Guarana, green tea extract and caffeine provide some weight loss benefits due to their thermogenic properties. Lactium® has a calming effect and goji berries provide antioxidants. However, the benefits of 7b-OH are presently unproven.

CytoLean V2 side effects

Cytolean V2 contains the stimulants caffeine, guarna and green tea extract. The presence of these stimulants in Cytolean V2 can cause an increase in heart rate and blood pressure, as well as nervousness, light-headedness, insomnia, dehydration, nausea and stomach problems. Individuals with pre-existing cardiovascular health conditions, such as high blood pressure, should consult a doctor before using Cytolean V2.

CytoLean V2 ingredients

There are ten ingredients in Cytolean V2 manufactured by Gaspari Nutrition. The CytoLean V2 formulation consists of two complexes:

1) The Lipolytic Drive Complex™ – a 565 mg blend of:

Green tea extract: A mild thermogenic agent that contains caffeine.

Proprietary extract of Pericarpium Citri reticulatae: This compound, derived from tangerine peel, is a source of synephrine and tyramine; neither of which has been shown to promote much in the way of fat burning. Tangerine peel has a diverse range of uses in traditional Chinese medicine as a digestive aid and tonic.

B-Phenylethylamine HCL (PEA): This is the ampthetamine-related chemical found in chocolate. It is derived from the aromatic amino acid phenylalanine. The majority of this chemical is metabolized in the body by an enzyme known as “monamine oxidase” (MAO). While PEA can improve mood, there is no evidence to indicate it provides any fat burning characteristics. The most commonly reported side effects are mild nausea and tightness of the throat.

Proprietary extract of Paullinia cupana: This ingredient is also known as guarana, and is common in weight loss products. It is a source of caffeine, which has mild thermogenic properties.

2) The Psycho-Corticoid Optimization Matrix™ – A 420 mg blend of:

Caffeine: As mentioned caffeine is a thermogenic agent with modest effects. A clinical study (Obes Res. 2005; 13: 1195-1204) has shown that a combination of green tea and caffeine (270 mg epigallocatechin gallate and 150 mg caffeine per day) can be beneficial in elevating metabolism and promoting weight loss. Unfortunately, because it is a propriety blend it is not possible to determine whether or not CytoLean V2 contains the optimal concentrations of EGCG and caffeine.

Lactium®: A milk-derived decapeptide with claimed “stress-reducing” properties.

7b-hydroxy-dehydroepiandrosterone (7b-OH): A metabolite of DHEA which is similar to 7-Keto DHEA. While several studies have demonstrated 7-Keto’s positive effects on weight loss (J Nutr Biochem. 2007; 18:629-34), it is not possible to determine whether this variation will offer the same benefits due to a lack of clinical data. However, anecdotal reports indicate that 7b-OH has strong anti-cortisol/anti-glucocorticoid activity, and has a significant impact on resting metabolic rate.

Chinese Boxthorn Extract (Lycium chinense): Also known as goji berry or Wolfberry, the role of this ingredient in the formulation is not clear.

Bioperine®: A black pepper extract that is frequently incorporated into weight loss supplements. It can increase the bioavailability of other ingredients in the formulation.

Huperzine A: This is an alkaloid isolated from a Chinese moss (Huperzia serrata) that has neuroprotective and cognitive effects. It has been demonstrated to inhibit the enzyme acetylcholinesterase (AChE). This inhibitory action increases acetylcholine levels in the body. Acetylcholine is the primary contractile neurotransmitter in muscle tissue.

CytoLean V2 dosage

The dosage directions are unusual in that they indicate that all three tablets should be taken in the morning.

CytoLean V2 conclusion

Cytolean V2 is a weight loss supplements that claims to help users lose weight, burn fat, suppress appetite and increase energy. CytoLean V2 contains ingredients that are commonly found in many weight loss supplements. Cytolean V2 is designed to be used in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise plan. The manufacturers of CytoLean V2 are open about its composition, so that it is possible to research the ingredients beyond the information provided on the website. However, there are no concentrations for the extensive number of ingredients contained in this formula listed on the bottle. It is therefore impossible to evaluate if there are enough of any of the ingredients to be effective at the recommended daily dose.
