Lipozolve Review

lipozolve

Lipozolve is an unusual diet pill in that it contains resveratrol, an antioxidant found in grapes and berries  and believed to promote weight loss. The manufacturer of Lipozolve claims that it will suppress appetite and boost fat burning. Unfortunately, the two appetite suppressants in Lipozolve are unproven. Green tea is included in the formulation, but has been demonstrated clinically to promote only a modest increase in fat burning. The official website does not indicate the country where Lipozolve is manufactured or the quality control procedures. Additionally, there is no contact address or telephone number for the manufacturer on the website – a red flag.

Lipozolve side effects

Lipozolve side effects include headaches, irritability, jitteriness, nervousness, insomnia and elevated heart rate.

  • No details of the manufacturer, the country where Lipozolve is made, product quality control and purity or a contact address are given on the website – always a cause for concern

Lipozolve ingredients

Resveratrol: This is an antioxidant that is found in and red wine, red grapes, raspberries, mulberries, blueberries, cranberries, peanuts, certain pine trees and knotweed. Recent studies suggest that resveratrol may help prevent diabetes and reduce insulin resistance. Resveratrol is popular with women. One of the main reasons that they are taking it is that they believe that it promotes weight loss. There is some evidence to indicate that resveratrol can enhance the absorption of glucose by muscle tissue. This means that more calories go into muscles and fewer go into fat cells. In addition, a study has found that mice fed a high-fat diet that included resveratrol had a similar average weight to mice eating a non-high-fat diet without resveratrol. Resveratrol is also believed to reduce estrogen levels in the body thereby decreasing body fat and increasing muscle mass. Resveratrol’s long-term safety has yet to be demonstrated.

Green tea: There is some evidence that green tea can promote modest weight loss (e.g. American Journal of Clinical Nutrition 2005; 81(1): 122-129). Most studies have demonstrated that it is one essential catechin, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), working in combination with caffeine that provides the weight reduction benefits. Unfortunately, the manufacturer of Lipozolve does not reveal what their green tea is standardized for, so it is impossible to assess the value it adds to the formulation. Green tea may also slow the increase in blood sugar following a meal. It does this by inhibiting the action of a digestive enzyme called amylase. This enzyme is responsible for the breakdown of carbohydrates, which can cause blood sugar levels to increase following a meal.

Chá de Bugre: This is a tree commonly found in Brazil. It produces a red fruit similar to a coffee bean which can be roasted and made in to a coffee substitute. Cha de Bugre is claimed to act as an appetite suppressant. Chá de Bugre is also believed to stimulate the metabolism and thus promote fat burning, although no clinical studies have been carried out. Cha de Bugre contains caffeine, potassium, allantoin and allantoic acid. Some users of Chá de Bugre have complained of restlessness, insomnia and headache, presumably due to its caffeine content.

Hoodia gordonii: Hoodia Gordonii is a cactus from the aloe family that grows in the Kalahari Desert. In South Africa, Hoodia is now on the list of endangered plant species, and is not actually supposed to be exported. The vast majority of Hoodia products on the market contain very little, if any, active Hoodia. Additionally, Hoodia has only been demonstrated to be effective as an appetite suppressant when fresh, raw pieces of the plant are consumed. The effectiveness of powdered Hoodia has yet to be established. The chemical apparently responsible for Hoodia’s appetite suppressing characteristics is P57, now under development by PhytoPharm in the UK. In the USA, the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and United States Customs and Border Protection regulate the importation and re-exportation of species such as Hoodia gordonii. Current U.S. laws stipulate that not only must a CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) certificate accompany shipments of Hoodia gordonii, but that the importers must possess a permit issued by the USDA to import terrestrial plants. In addition to CITES and USDA certificates a consumer should look for a report from an independent testing laboratory verifying the presence of Hoodia gordonii. None of this information is provided by the manufacturer of Lipozolve, calling into question the quality of Hoodia that they use.

Lipozolve dosage

Each bottle of Lipozolve contains 60 capsules or one month’s supply.

Conclusion

The manufacturers of Lipozolve do reveal its composition, so that it is possible to research the ingredients. However, the quantities of the ingredients contained in the  Lipozolve formulation are not listed on the website. It is therefore impossible to evaluate if there are sufficient concentrations of any of the ingredients to be effective as a diet pill at the recommended daily dose. Additionally, the quality of the Hoodia in Lipozolve is not supported by CITES and USDA certificates, or a report from an independent testing laboratory verifying the presence of genuine Hoodia gordonii.
