Many negative testimonials have been posted on the internet by dissatisfied customers who have purchased Nuphedrine. Is Nuphedrine just another diet pill scam? The key ingredients are claimed to deliver weight loss by suppressing appetite. Unfortunately the manufacturers do not reveal the quantities of each ingredient included in the formulation. This information is critical in making an accurate assessment of the quality of this weight loss product.
The manufacturer of Nuphedrine is Prime World Syndicate, a company that some have claimed to be ‘one of the largest scammers of weight loss products online today.’ Prime World Syndicate own at least three ‘impartial’ product review websites tailored to ‘encourage’ people to order their dieting products: WeKnowDiets.com; Sensational.com & DietBlogTalk.com.
Nuphedrine’s ingredients
Nuphedrine is a weight loss formula that promises to diminish food cravings, suppress appetite, and increase energy. It contains three ingredients:
Advantra-Z: This ingredient is a patented form of synephrine or Citrus aurantium. Synephrine, which has been put forward as an alternative to ephedra, has replaced this compound in many popular fat burners.
Hoodia gordonii: There is considerable debate about the efficacy of Hoodia gordonii. A key concern with Hoodia is authenticity.
Animal research using the active ingredient (P57) in Hoodia gordonii has indicated that it can indeed suppress appetite, resulting in significant weight loss. A double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study has been carried out by Phytopharm, a UK biotechnology company. In this study overweight male volunteers were randomly allocated to receive either Hoodia extract (a product not yet on the market), or a placebo twice daily for 15 days. The Hoodia extract group showed a statistically significant reduction in the average daily calorie intake compared with the placebo (p= 0.014). There was also a statistically significant reduction in body fat content compared with the placebo (p=0.035). By day 15 the calorie intake had decreased by approximately 1000 calories per day. However, many medical weight loss experts remain sceptical and do not recommend the currently available Hoodia products to obese patients.
Slimaluma: This ingredient is a high grade extract of Caralluma fimbriata, a succulent plant with a long history amongst the labor classes in South India, where it is used to suppress appetite and enhance endurance. A clinical study from a research center in India showed a significant drop in subject body weight after 2 months of taking Slimaluma.
Nuphedrine side effects
Manufacturers claim that Synephrine provides the “fat burning” effects of ephedra, but without side effects such as sleeplessness, jitters, elevated blood pressure, etc. However, there are studies that indicate that Synephrine can elevate blood pressure and heart rate (e.g. Ann. Pharmacother. [2006] 40(1):53-7).
Side effects reported for Slimaluma are gastro-intestinal in nature and included acidity (moderate), constipation (mild) and flatulence (mild to moderate). These effects subsided within a week after commencement of the studies.
The Nuphedrine website
On the official website it is claimed that ‘Nuphedrine is the only pill to bring you both: Real Certified South African Hoodia & Patented Advantra-Z.’ This claim is incorrect, because another weight loss product, Miracleburn, makes the same claim.
There are also manufacturers out there that state that they use ‘real certified’ Hoodia gordonii when in fact they do not. They merely show a faked image of a CITES certificate to convince potential customer that their Hoodia gordonii ingredient is real and certified.
In the USA, the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and United States Customs and Border Protection regulate the importation and re-exportation of species such as Hoodia gordonii. Current U.S. laws stipulate that not only must a CITES certificate accompany shipments of Hoodia gordonii, but that the importers must possess a permit issued by the USDA to import Terrestrial Plants. In addition to CITES and USDA certificates a consumer should look for a report from an independent testing laboratory verifying the presence of Hoodia gordonii.

This was very informative & appreciated.
I actually took Nuphedrine for a little over a year. I just wanted to lose 10 – 15 pounds I just couldn’t lose through diet and exercise alone. After spending $600 total I finally gave up. I realized I had been eating smaller portions and I’m thankful for that. However, I wasn’t burning fat any faster than I had from my regular workout routine. I also noticed my skin had been breaking out a bit. After I stopped taking the pills the breakouts stopped. I decided the pills really weren’t working for me and have started doing more cardio which has at least kept me from gaining any more weight and my clothes are starting to fit better. People don’t need pills (unless weight gain is glandular). People need to get off the couch, away from reality TV and be more active outside. I’m a firm believer in exercise now. Even walking, no matter how slow or fast, will provide more benefits than these pills did for me.
