Thermodrenix, manufactured by Blackstone Nutrition, contains 3 patented ingredients. Clinical studies have not been performed on Thermodrenix; just on some of the ingredients. No company information, corporate web site, or street address is provided by the manufacturer. Additionally, there is no indication of the country where Thermodrenix is manufactured or the quality control procedures.
How does Thermodrenix work?
The Thermodrenix formula has been developed to promote thermogenesis, suppress appetite and boost energy levels. Thermodrenix incorporates ingredients with fat-burning and appetite-suppressing properties. It contains Super CitriMax, a compound promoted as inhibiting the transformation of carbohydrate into fat. An additional patented ingredient is ForsLean, which is derived from Coleus forskohlii. ForsLean is claimed to elevate cyclic AMP levels, which facilitates body fat reduction. The third patented component, Bioperine, has been shown to enhance the absorption of nutrients. In addition, Thermodrenix includes two types of green tea. Although the inclusion of decaffeinated green tea may be debatable, natural green tea has proven weight loss effects.
Thermodrenix side effects
Many diet pills come with side effects, usually caused by incorporating too many stimulant-based ingredients into their formulations. People who are sensitive to caffeine are particularly susceptible to these side effects. The ingredients in the Thermodrenix formulation are not harmful in themselves. However, Thermodrenix contains caffeine. In some individuals, stimulants like this can cause side effects such as restlessness, headaches, jitteriness, nervousness, irritability, insomnia, palpitations, elevated heartbeat and increased blood pressure.

Thermodrenix ingredients
Thermodrenix’s ingredients profile is completely revealed, which is very rare in the diet pill industry. The amounts of the ingredients included in the formulation correspond to the amounts used in clinical studies performed on the ingredients.
SuperCitrimax (1400 mg): This ingredient has been shown clinically to reduce appetite, burn fat and lower blood cholesterol levels. Researchers at Georgetown University Medical Center (Washington, DC) and Andhra University (Visakhapatnam, India) have demonstrated that Super CitriMax can reduce appetite and increase thermogenesis without apparent side effects. The compound also promotes healthy blood lipid levels. In an 8 week clinical study involving Super CitriMax subjects lost around 12 pounds taking the compound as compared to only 2.3 pounds in the placebo group (J. Med. [2004] 35(1-6):33-48). Super CitriMax has also been demonstrated to increase levels of serum serotonin, a neurotransmitter involved in mood, sleep and appetite control.
Green tea (1000 mg): It seems a little odd to include a decaffeinated version of green tea standardized for EGCG (600 mg) along with a caffeinated version (400 mg). There is some evidence that green tea offers weight loss benefits. Most studies have indicated that it is one essential catechin, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), working in combination with caffeine that provides the weight loss benefits. Green tea may also slow the increase in blood sugar following a meal. It does this by inhibiting the action of a digestive enzyme amylase. This enzyme is responsible for the breakdown of carbohydrates, which can cause blood sugar levels to increase following a meal. Green tea has been reported to promote weight loss by increasing the metabolic rate, boosting calorie burn (e.g. American Journal of Clinical Nutrition 2005; 81(1): 122-129).
Forslean (250 mg): This compound is derived from the root of Coleaus forskohlii. Coleus forskholii has been demonstrated to enhance lipolysis. Many fat burners contain Coleus forskohlii as it appears to have a positive effect on cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). An increased concentration of cAMP can increase thyroid hormone (thyroxin) levels and may also inhibit fat storage. Thyroxin controls metabolism and can enhance metabolic rate, promoting fat loss. In an 8 week clinical study subjects taking ForsLean lost on average 9.9 lbs of body weight compared to the placebo group where only 1.1 lbs of fat was lost. Another study was less positive (J Int Soc Sports Nutr. 2:54-62, 2005). It concluded that Coleus forskohlii did not appear to promote weight loss but that it may help mitigate weight gain in overweight females. A number (but not all) of clinical studies have shown that Coleaus forskohlii may cause an increase in heart rate and a decrease in blood pressure.
Gymnema Sylvestre extract (200 mg): This is a climbing plant native to tropical regions of India. Its bitter leaves can can supress the ability to taste sugar, thereby reducing cravings for sugar. Gymnema sylvestre is used in Indian Ayurvedic medicine and is believed to have antiviral and lipid lowering properties. Gymnema sylvestre may also offer health benefits for individuals with diabetes mellitus. Based on limited information Gymnema sylvestre is believed to be able to reduce the sugar available in the stomach for absorption, raise insulin levels and block dietary fat absorption. In an 8 week clinical study of 60 overweight subjects, a combination of hydroxycitric acid, niacin-bound chromium and gymnema sylvestre extract facilitated a reduction in body weight and BMI (Preuss HG et al. Diabetes Obes Metab. 2004;6(3):171-80).
Bioperine (5 mg): A common ingredient in many weight loss supplements. Bioperine is a standardized extract from the fruit of Piper nigrum L (black pepper) or Piper longum L (long pepper). It contains 95 percent piperine. Bioperine has been shown in clinical studies to increase the absorption of ingredients in nutritional supplement formulations. It is possible that the use of Bioperine may increase the side effects of certain supplements or drugs due to increased absorption.
Thermodrenix conclusion
The manufacturer of Thermodrenix provides a complete list of ingredients and their quantities, which is a major plus. SuperCitrimax is a useful, but not particularly powerful weight loss ingredient, but it is present at the correct concentration. Green tea and caffeine are also present in potent doses. Gymnema and Forslean do not add much to this formulation. The price seems high for a product like this. Thermodrenix is a caffeine heavy diet pill. If sensitive to stimulants, this is a weight loss product best avoided.
